How to Choose Football Championship Trophies for Junior and Senior Competitions

Winning a football championship is a major achievement for any team. From junior players experiencing their first grand final to senior teams celebrating a hard-earned premiership, a championship trophy provides a lasting reminder of the season, the competition and the people who contributed to the success.

Choosing the right football championship trophy is therefore an important part of planning a presentation ceremony.

At Trophy Specialists, we supply trophies, medals and awards for sporting clubs, schools, associations and competitions across Australia. Based in Osborne Park, Perth, we offer football and soccer awards suitable for junior and senior competitions.

Why Championship Trophies Matter

A championship trophy represents more than a final score.

For players, coaches, volunteers and families, it can represent an entire season of:

• Training
• Teamwork
• Dedication
• Competition
• Improvement
• Sportsmanship
• Leadership
• Commitment
• Team spirit

A quality trophy gives the winning team something tangible to remember the season by.

For junior competitions, trophies can become especially meaningful because they mark an important milestone in a young player’s sporting journey.

For senior competitions, a championship trophy can become part of a club’s history.

Junior Football Championship Trophies

Junior football is about developing skills, confidence and a love of the game.

While winning is exciting, junior competitions should also recognise effort, development and participation.

A junior football awards presentation could include:

• Championship Winner
• Runner-Up
• Best & Fairest
• Most Improved Player
• Best Goalkeeper
• Golden Boot
• Coaches’ Award
• Players’ Player
• Best Team Player
• Rising Star
• Most Consistent Player
• Team Spirit Award

For schools and junior sporting organisations, the Academic/School/Education awards collection can also provide additional recognition options for students who contribute both on and off the field.

Senior Football Championship Trophies

Senior competitions often have a stronger emphasis on championship results, club history and individual performance.

A senior football presentation might include:

Premiership Trophy

The main championship trophy should be the centrepiece of the presentation.

It can recognise the winning team and include details such as:

2026 PREMIERS
Senior Men’s Division
ABC Football Club

Best & Fairest Award

Recognise a player who demonstrated excellent performance while maintaining strong sportsmanship.

Golden Boot

An ideal award for the competition’s leading goal scorer.

Most Valuable Player

Recognise the player who made the greatest overall contribution to the team’s success.

Most Improved Player

Celebrate a player who demonstrated significant development throughout the season.

Coaches’ Award

Give the coach an opportunity to recognise a player whose effort, attitude or commitment stood out.

Players’ Player

This award allows teammates to vote for the player they believe made an outstanding contribution.

Football Trophies for Grand Finals and Premierships

A grand final is one of the biggest moments in a football season.

The presentation should therefore have awards that reflect the importance of the occasion.

Consider preparing:

• Premiership trophy
• Runner-up trophy
• MVP award
• Best & Fairest award
• Golden Boot
• Best goalkeeper award
• Coach’s award
• Individual player medals

Using a combination of trophies and medals creates different levels of recognition while giving players and teams a physical reminder of their achievements.

Choosing the Right Football Trophy

There is no single design that suits every competition.

When choosing a football championship trophy, consider:

Competition Level

A major senior championship may warrant a larger premium trophy, while a junior competition may benefit from a smaller, player-friendly design.

Number of Recipients

If only one team receives the championship trophy, you can invest in a larger centrepiece.

If every player is receiving an award, medals can be used alongside the main trophy.

Age Group

Junior awards should be appropriately sized and easy for young players to display.

Trophy Design

A football-themed design immediately communicates what the award represents.

Personalisation

Adding the club, competition, year and achievement makes the trophy more memorable.

What Should Be Engraved on a Football Championship Trophy?

Personalised engraving is one of the easiest ways to turn a standard trophy into a permanent record of a team’s achievement.

A championship trophy could include:

2026 CHAMPIONS
U16 Boys
Westside Football Club
Metro Junior Football League

A senior trophy could say:

2026 PREMIERS
Senior Men’s Division
Westside Football Club

You can also include the competition name, division, season or grand final date.

Keeping the engraving concise helps maintain a clean and professional appearance.

Football Medals for Individual Players

A championship trophy is normally presented to the winning team, but medals are a great way to recognise individual players.

Gold, silver and bronze-style medals can be used for:

• Champions
• Runner-up
• Third place
• Best player
• MVP
• Participation
• Special achievement

Medals are particularly useful for junior football because every player can receive a keepsake from the season.

For competitions that need coordinated medal presentations, Trophy Specialists also offers Medal Ribbons.

Football Awards Beyond the Championship

Not every achievement happens during the grand final.

A good football awards program can recognise different contributions throughout the season.

Consider awards for:

Best & Fairest

Recognises outstanding performance and sportsmanship.

Most Improved

Celebrates player development rather than simply results.

Best Team Player

Recognises someone who consistently supports teammates.

Coach’s Award

Highlights effort, attitude and commitment.

Players’ Player

Allows the team to recognise one of its own.

Golden Boot

Celebrates the leading goal scorer.

Goalkeeper of the Year

Recognises outstanding performance between the posts.

Rising Star

Ideal for recognising a promising junior player.

Club Person of the Year

Recognises an individual who contributes to the wider club, including volunteering and community involvement.

These additional awards can be selected alongside a championship trophy to create a complete end-of-season presentation.

Perpetual Football Championship Trophies

Clubs that run annual competitions may want to consider a perpetual trophy.

A perpetual championship trophy remains with the club or competition while the winning team’s name is added each season.

For example:

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

2024 — Westside FC
2025 — Northern United
2026 — Coastal Warriors

Over time, the trophy becomes a record of the competition’s history.

This can be especially valuable for established football clubs, school competitions and regional sporting associations.

Junior Football Awards That Encourage Development

Junior competitions are an excellent opportunity to recognise more than just the winning team.

A balanced awards program can celebrate:

• Skill development
• Teamwork
• Sportsmanship
• Effort
• Leadership
• Improvement
• Participation
• Positive attitude

This helps ensure that players who may not win the championship still receive recognition for their contribution.

For schools running football competitions, the Achievement/Victory/Knowledge awards collection can provide options for recognising achievement beyond the final result.

Soccer, Football and Futsal Awards

Football terminology varies across Australia and different competitions.

Some organisations refer to the sport as soccer, while others use football. Futsal competitions also require their own awards and recognition.

Trophy Specialists’ Soccer/Football/Futsal collection provides a dedicated category for these competitions.

This makes it easier for clubs, schools and associations to find awards relevant to:

• Junior soccer
• Senior soccer
• Community football
• Club competitions
• Futsal
• School football
• Representative teams
• Tournament competitions
• Championship events

Football vs AFL: Choosing the Right Award

Football and Australian Rules football require different styles of sporting recognition.

If your competition is Australian Rules, Trophy Specialists also has dedicated AFL trophies and Aussie Rules awards for clubs and competitions.

For soccer, football and futsal, use the dedicated Soccer/Football/Futsal collection.

Choosing a sport-specific award helps make the presentation more relevant to the players receiving it.

Championship Trophies for Schools

Schools can use football trophies to recognise both team and individual achievements.

A school football presentation could include:

• School Football Champions
• Inter-School Champions
• Junior Football Champions
• Senior Football Champions
• Best Player
• Most Improved
• Best Sportsmanship
• Team Spirit
• Coach’s Award
• Participation

Schools can also combine sporting trophies with academic and extracurricular recognition. Explore the Academic/School/Education awards collection for additional school award ideas.

Football Awards for Clubs and Associations

Football clubs often need awards for multiple age groups and divisions.

For example:

Under 8s
Participation medals

Under 10s
Best Player, Most Improved and Team Spirit

Under 12s
Championship trophy and individual awards

Under 16s
Premiership trophy, MVP and Best & Fairest

Senior Division
Championship trophy, runner-up trophy, MVP and individual awards

Planning all awards together helps create a consistent presentation across the club.

How Many Trophies and Medals Do You Need?

Before placing your order, create a complete list of awards.

For example:

This approach makes it easier to check that every category and player has been accounted for before the presentation.
