AFL Trophies and Medals: Ideas for Every End-of-Season Award

The end of the AFL season is one of the most anticipated times of the year for players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters. After months of training, hard-fought matches, and incredible teamwork, it’s time to celebrate the individuals and teams who made the season unforgettable.

Whether you’re organising an AFL club presentation night, junior football awards, or a school football carnival, choosing the right AFL trophies and medals helps create lasting memories for every participant.

At Trophy Specialists, we offer a wide range of engraved AFL trophies, football medals, perpetual trophies, and custom awards designed for clubs and organisations across Australia.

Why AFL Awards Matter

Recognition goes beyond winning a premiership.

Awards motivate players, acknowledge dedication, and celebrate the effort that goes into every training session and match throughout the season.

Well-designed AFL trophies and medals also help:

• Build stronger club culture
• Encourage player development
• Reward commitment and sportsmanship
• Recognise volunteers and coaches
• Create memorable presentation nights

Every recipient deserves an award that reflects their contribution to the club.

Essential AFL End-of-Season Award Ideas

Best and Fairest

One of the most prestigious awards at any football club, the Best and Fairest recognises consistent performance, leadership, and sportsmanship throughout the season.

A premium engraved trophy cup or crystal award is the perfect choice for this honour.

Runner-Up Best and Fairest

Recognise the player who consistently performed at a high level all season with a quality engraved trophy or plaque.

This award acknowledges excellence and healthy competition within the team.

Best Clubman

Not every contribution happens during the game.

The Best Clubman award recognises players who support teammates, help around the club, encourage others, and demonstrate outstanding commitment.

This award often becomes one of the most respected honours presented each season.

Coaches Award

The Coaches Award celebrates players who continually improve, display determination, and embrace feedback.

It rewards attitude, effort, and commitment rather than statistics alone.

Most Improved Player

Improvement deserves recognition.

This award highlights players who have developed their skills, confidence, teamwork, and consistency over the course of the season.

It’s particularly popular in junior AFL competitions where player development is a key focus.

Leading Goal Kicker

Forwards who consistently hit the scoreboard deserve recognition for their attacking impact.

An engraved AFL trophy featuring a football or goal-kicking design makes this award stand out.

Rising Star Award

Encourage the next generation of football talent with a Rising Star award.

Ideal for junior clubs, schools, and youth competitions, this award recognises emerging players with exciting potential.

Best Defensive Player

Great teams rely on strong defence.

Reward defenders who consistently protect the backline, win contests, and support their teammates throughout the season.

Most Courageous Player

Football often rewards bravery.

This award recognises players who consistently put their bodies on the line, contest every ball, and inspire teammates through determination and resilience.

Volunteer Recognition Awards

Behind every successful AFL club is a team of dedicated volunteers.

Recognise the people who contribute their time, including:

• Team managers
• Trainers
• Umpires
• Committee members
• Canteen volunteers
• Ground staff
• Scorekeepers

Personalised plaques or engraved trophies are a wonderful way to thank those who make every season possible.

AFL Medals for Every Player

Many clubs choose to present AFL medals to every participant, particularly in junior competitions.

Participation medals help celebrate:

• Team commitment
• Personal improvement
• Season completion
• Junior development
• Club spirit

Children especially appreciate receiving a medal they can proudly keep as a reminder of their football journey.

Personalise Your AFL Awards

Custom engraving transforms every trophy into a lasting keepsake.

Popular engraving options include:

• Player name
• Club name
• Competition
• Award title
• Season year
• Team logo
• Sponsor logo

Personalised AFL trophies become treasured reminders of an unforgettable season.

Choosing the Right AFL Trophy

Different awards deserve different styles.

Trophy Cups

Perfect for major club awards such as Best and Fairest or Premiership Winners.

AFL Figurine Trophies

Featuring football players in action, these remain one of Australia’s most popular award styles.

Glass and Crystal Awards

Ideal for coaches, committee members, sponsors, and corporate football events.

Timber Plaques

Classic presentation pieces suited to volunteer recognition and service awards.

Perpetual Trophies

Perfect for annual competitions where each year’s winner is engraved onto the same prestigious trophy.

Make Presentation Night Memorable

Your end-of-season presentation is more than an awards ceremony—it’s a celebration of everyone who helped make the season successful.

Consider creating an exciting presentation with:

• Team photo displays
• Highlight videos
• Player speeches
• Coach acknowledgements
• Family recognition
• Volunteer appreciation
• Individual award presentations

Combining meaningful speeches with personalised trophies creates memories that players will treasure long after the final siren.
